Passport Size Photo Maker
Turn any photo into a passport, stamp or ID size picture with a plain background, squeeze it into the exact KB a form demands, and print a whole A4 sheet of copies with cut lines.
An Indian passport photo is 35 x 45 mm, which is 413 x 531 pixels at 300 DPI. This free tool crops any photo to that size, puts a plain white background behind it, compresses it to the exact KB range a form demands, and lays out up to 30 copies on one A4 sheet with dotted cut lines.
Choose a photo
Drag it here, paste it, or tap to browse. A clear front-facing photo against a plain wall works best.
Drag the photo to move it. Keep the head inside the oval and the eyes near the line.
It knows what a person looks like rather than going by colour, so a white shirt against a white wall stays put. The first use fetches it once, then it works offline.
Everything joined to the edge of your photo that matches the wall colour is cleared. Slide right if bits of wall are left behind, left if hair or clothing starts disappearing.
The tool keeps the best quality that still fits. Set the largest to a big number if your form has no limit.
Add the whole family and give each person their own number of copies — father 8, mother 8, daughter 4, all on one sheet.
Add another person
They get the same size, background and file-size settings.
When printing, choose Actual size or 100% — not "fit to page", or the photos come out undersized.
Add photos
Pick as many as you like — they are all processed on your own device.
The right size, the right background and the right file size
Most online forms reject a photo for one of three reasons: it is the wrong shape, the background is not plain, or the file is a few KB too big. This fixes all three before you upload.
Choose the photo
Any phone photo will do. A plain wall behind the person gives the cleanest result.
Pick the size
35×45mm for an Indian passport, stamp size, ID card, or type any size in millimetres.
Set the background
White, light blue or grey — or keep the original. Drag the photo so the head sits inside the guide.
Download or print a sheet
One photo at the exact KB a form wants, or a full A4 sheet of copies with dotted cut lines.
What size is a passport photo?
An Indian passport photo is 35 × 45 mm, which is 413 × 531 pixels at 300 DPI. The same size is used for Aadhaar, for most Indian forms and for Schengen visas.
A US visa or OCI photo is different — a 2 × 2 inch square (51 × 51 mm). Stamp size is 20 × 25 mm and a typical school ID photo is 25 × 35 mm.
How many photos fit on an A4 sheet?
With a 2 mm gap and a 6 mm margin, an A4 sheet holds 30 passport photos — 5 across and 6 down — or 90 stamp-size ones. The tool works this out for whatever size you choose and shows you the maximum.
The sheet does not have to be one person. Add father, mother and daughter, give each of them their own number of copies, and they are laid out together on the one sheet with a running count of the spaces left.
When you print, choose Actual size or 100% in the print dialog. "Fit to page" quietly shrinks everything by a few percent and the photos come out the wrong size.
Getting the file size right
Forms often say something like "between 20 KB and 50 KB". The tool searches for the highest quality that still fits, and only reduces the pixels if even the lowest quality is still too large — so you never lose more detail than you have to.
If the file comes out smaller than the minimum, raise the print quality a step: more pixels makes a bigger file at the same physical size.
How the background is replaced
A segmentation model finds the person. It has learnt the shape of a head and shoulders rather than going by colour, so a white shirt against a white wall stays exactly where it is — the case that defeats every colour-based tool.
Colour matching then sharpens the thin uncertain band along the outline, and the result is softened by a pixel so the cut does not look like scissor work. If anything still goes missing, the brush above paints it back, or turn the model off and use the slider instead.
Passport Size Photo Maker — your questions
What is the size of a passport size photo?
An Indian passport photo is 35 x 45 mm, which works out to 413 x 531 pixels at 300 DPI. The same size is used for Aadhaar, for most Indian application forms and for Schengen visas. A US visa or OCI photo is different: a 2 x 2 inch square, or 51 x 51 mm.
How many passport size photos fit on an A4 sheet?
With a 2 mm gap and a 6 mm margin, 30 photos fit on an A4 sheet, arranged 5 across and 6 down. Stamp size photos of 20 x 25 mm fit about 90 to a sheet. The sheet can also hold several people at once: add father, mother and daughter, give each their own number of copies, and they are laid out together with a running count of the spaces left.
How do I make a photo exactly 20 KB to 50 KB?
Type 20 and 50 into the file size boxes. The tool searches for the highest JPEG quality that still lands under 50 KB, and only reduces the pixel size if even the lowest quality is too big. If the result comes out below 20 KB, raise the print quality to 600 DPI so there are more pixels to store.
Can it put a white background behind the photo?
Yes. A segmentation model finds the person and the background behind them is filled with white, light blue, grey or light red. Because the model goes by shape rather than colour, a white shirt against a white wall stays put. If anything does go missing, a brush paints it back.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens inside your own browser using your device's processor. The photo is never sent to a server, never stored and never seen by anyone else, which matters when the photo is a child's.
How do I print the sheet at the right size?
Download the PDF and choose Actual size or 100% in the print dialog, never Fit to page, which shrinks everything by a few percent. Print on matte or glossy photo paper if you have it, then cut along the dotted lines.
Can I do a whole class at once?
Yes. On the Many photos tab you can add as many pictures as you like. They all get the same size, background and file size settings, you can drag each thumbnail to line up the face, and you can download the lot as a ZIP or as a labelled contact sheet PDF.
What size photo does a school ID card need?
Most school and office ID cards use 25 x 35 mm, and many diaries and record books use the same. Stamp size, 20 x 25 mm, is the smaller one often asked for on forms and registers. Both are in the size list, and you can type any custom size you need.
