Hidden Stars School
About School
Hidden Stars School started as a Montessori-based preschool in 2016, catering to just two students initially. Following a Montessori curriculum, the school emphasized that learning goes beyond mere reading and writing from assigned materials. Instead, it extended to a broader scope, encouraging children and their parents to engage in a more holistic approach to education. This approach led to the expansion of Hidden Stars, becoming a primary school in 2020, offering classes from nursery to grade 5.
At Hidden Stars, learning takes place in an informal yet purposeful environment, allowing children to embrace learning with joy and creativity. The students have minimal constraints and are free to explore and move around comfortably.
The school's philosophy is built upon holistic and child-centered learning, fostering collaboration and freedom in an enjoyable setting. The curriculum is designed to cater to the ages, abilities, and interests of each group of children, focusing on experiential, hands-on learning.
For instance, learning about states of matter might involve conducting experiments with water in the school kitchen, exploring concepts like evaporation and condensation through practical activities. Excursions and field trips are also tailored to complement the classroom subjects.
Hidden Stars aims to help children develop academic proficiency, emotional stability, and an understanding of current social and developmental issues, shaping them into kind, responsible, and engaged members of society.
The school encourages children to be fearless, curious, compassionate, and accepting of cultural and individual differences. It promotes a non-competitive environment where learning is driven by personal growth rather than comparison to others' performance.
The Hidden Stars community is composed of dedicated and qualified teachers, a supportive staff, and enthusiastic board members who are committed to preparing the children for the future.
The staff members are trained to ensure that each child's curriculum objectives are met consistently without disrupting their work or thought processes. They facilitate learning, observe, record, and assess on a daily basis, maintaining an appropriate student-teacher ratio to address every child's needs without excessive dependence on adult guidance.
