About School
Hartmann College, established in 1967, is a co-educational institution in Bareilly, India. The college is run by the Christian Catholic Minority and recognized by the Department of Education (U.P.). It is affiliated with the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. The management and governance of the institution is entrusted to the Order of Friars Minor Capuchins through a registered body, Hartmann Educational Society, Bareilly. English is the medium of instruction from Class I to XII, with Hindi as a compulsory subject.
The college draws inspiration from Bishop Anastatius Hartmann, a scholar, missionary, and social worker. Born in Switzerland in 1803, Bishop Hartmann dedicated his life to serving the underprivileged in India. He worked in various cities like Gwalior, Patna, and Mumbai, establishing schools and dispensaries to provide education and healthcare to the needy. He was a polyglot, fluent in seven Indian languages, and a champion for social justice. To honor his legacy and continue his mission of education, the Capuchin Fathers founded Hartmann College. The college motto, "He Who Loves Knowledge Loves Discipline," embodies Bishop Hartmann's guiding principle, emphasizing the importance of both intellectual pursuit and self-control.
Hartmann College offers a nurturing and holistic learning environment for students from Class I to XII. With a well-qualified faculty and a strong academic curriculum, the college prepares students for success in the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations. The college prioritizes not just academic excellence but also character development. Inculcating values of discipline, responsibility, and social awareness is an integral part of the Hartmann College education.
The college boasts a sprawling campus spanning 90 acres, providing ample space for academic pursuits, extracurricular activities, and personal growth. The infrastructure includes well-equipped classrooms, laboratories, a library, and sports facilities. The college fosters a vibrant and inclusive environment, encouraging students to explore their talents and interests beyond academics. From sports and debate to arts and cultural activities, Hartmann College offers a diverse range of extracurricular opportunities that contribute to a well-rounded education.
Hartmann College's commitment to excellence extends beyond academics and extracurriculars. The college fosters a strong sense of community, where students, faculty, and staff come together in a spirit of mutual respect and collaboration. The college provides pastoral care and counseling services to support the emotional and spiritual well-being of its students.
