T.I. School

Founded in 1981 as part of the philanthropic legacy of the AMM Foundation - envisaged by the late Shri AMM Murugappa Chettiar alongside five hospitals and four other educational institutions - T.I. School on MTH Road, TV Nagar, Ambattur, Chennai has spent 42 years building one of the most consistently recognized CBSE schools in the city. The school holds the distinction of being the first in South India and the 9th in the country to receive accreditation for Quality School Governance from the National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABT), a wing of the Quality Council of India - a benchmark that reflects the institution’s sustained commitment to governance, academic delivery, and infrastructure standards across four decades of operation. The school currently serves 1,408 students supported by 64 faculty members on its lush green 7.4-acre campus in the heart of Ambattur.

T.I. School’s 2025-26 academic year brought a significant national recognition - the India School Merit Award under the CBSE Holistic Education category, presented by Education Today, selected from among 2,167 participating schools across 15 parameters including Academic Reputation, Teacher Development, and Co-curricular & Sports Education, based on jury ratings and over 1,31,000 parent votes. The school offers three streams at the Class XI and XII level — Non-Medical (Physics, Chemistry, Maths), Medical (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), and Commerce (Business Studies, Accountancy, Economics) - with electives including Psychology, Physical Education, Computer Science, Informatics Practices, Applied Maths, and Carnatic Music. In January 2026, the school launched Communa - a Case-Based Learning initiative - bringing a structured real-world problem-solving approach into the senior school curriculum.

The 7.4-acre campus at TV Nagar, Ambattur is equipped with well-appointed laboratories where students perform experiments individually, a curated library housing over 10,000 books serving both students and teachers, ICT-integrated classrooms for the KG section, and a Berthold Lonne Pavilion that serves as the school’s main event and graduation venue. In November 2025, the school inaugurated a Field Hockey Coaching Programme marking a century of Indian hockey — one of the few schools in Ambattur to offer structured field hockey alongside its regular sports programme. The annual cultural calendar includes Mythree (the Grade XII farewell), Vibrant Vibes, the School Exposition, Marghazhi Utsav, Pongal, and a robust grade-wise field trip programme covering the Rail Museum, Vandalur Zoo, Birla Planetarium, Guindy National Park, Egmore Museum, Mahabalipuram, and Rocksport. The school also hosted students from Ehime Prefecture, Japan in December 2025 for a structured student exchange featuring cultural performances, guest lectures on SDGs, and a cricket match.
