St. Sophia Senior Secondary School

St. Sophia’s Sr. Sec. School began in 1983 at A-2, Paschim Vihar in West Delhi, but the story behind it goes back to 1969. That year a group of energetic people from the Christian community joined hands and registered the St. Sophia’s Christian Education Society with the Registrar of Societies, Delhi. The Society runs the school as a minority institution. Joseph Thomas, who has been a founder member of the school since 1983, serves as society president, and K.C. Bansal manages the school day to day.

The school is recognised and affiliated to CBSE, and it runs from pre-primary through Class XII. The About page lists in-charges for Pre-Primary, Primary and Science for Classes I to VIII and IX to XII, which shows the age range it covers. Principal Mrs. Reeta Sharma Chaudhary is a post graduate in Biology and holds an M.Sc. and B.Ed. She has received best teacher awards for her subject. As a CBSE school in Paschim Vihar, it publishes its CBSE board results and its mandatory disclosure on the website.

Facilities are described plainly. The school says it has enough classrooms, a sports room, art and craft rooms and a library with reference books, newspapers, magazines and story books. It also has a computer lab, well-maintained Chemistry, Physics and Biology labs, and a playground for sport. Annual Sports Meet is a fixture, and the home page carries a Sports and Faculty banner as well.
