Vocabulary Flashcards
Build a strong English vocabulary class by class — flip cards, hear each word, spell it, match it and quiz yourself. Your progress is saved on this device.
The fastest way to build English vocabulary is a little every day. Learn five new words with their part of speech, a simple meaning, an example sentence and one synonym or antonym, then revise them after 1 day, 3 days and a week. Five words a day is over 1,000 words in one school year.

Learn new words the smart way
Every word comes with its part of speech, a simple meaning, an example sentence and — where useful — a synonym and an antonym.
Pick your class
Each class has 32–34 words, graded Easy, Medium and Hard.
Flip and listen
Say the word aloud, hear its pronunciation, then flip for the meaning.
Sort what you know
Mark each card “I know it” or “Still learning” — it is saved per class.
Test yourself
Spell, match and quiz the words. Missed words go back to “Still learning”.
Parts of speech
- Noun – names a person, place, thing or idea: village, courage
- Verb – shows an action or state: explore, protect
- Adjective – describes a noun: fragile glass, a vast desert
- Adverb – tells how, when or where: wake up early
Synonyms & antonyms
Synonyms have the same or nearly the same meaning: enormous = huge, timid = shy.
Antonyms are opposites: ancient ↔ modern, borrow ↔ lend. Learning words in pairs doubles your vocabulary and helps with “word meaning” questions in exams.
Use context clues
In “The weary travellers rested under a banyan tree”, the word rested tells you that weary means very tired.
When you meet a new word while reading, look at the words around it before reaching for a dictionary.
Spaced practice
Review “Still learning” words after 1 day, 3 days and 1 week. Each time, say the word, spell it and use it in your own sentence — this moves it into long-term memory.
Vocabulary Flashcards — your questions
How many words are in these vocabulary flashcards?
There are 327 words in all, split by class — about 32 to 34 words for each class from Class 1 to Class 10. Within every class the words are graded Easy, Medium and Hard, so a round starts gently and gets harder. You can also filter to one level at a time.
How can I improve my English vocabulary quickly?
Learn words in context, not in lists. For every new word, read the example sentence, say it aloud, then write one sentence of your own. Revise after a day, three days and a week — spaced repetition moves words into long-term memory far better than reading the same list ten times in one sitting.
What is the difference between a synonym and an antonym?
A synonym has the same or nearly the same meaning — enormous and huge, timid and shy. An antonym is the opposite — ancient and modern, borrow and lend. Learning a word with both doubles your vocabulary from one card and prepares you for “word meaning” and “opposite word” questions in exams.
What is a context clue and how do I use it?
A context clue is a hint in the surrounding words that tells you what a new word means. In “The weary travellers rested under a banyan tree”, the word rested tells you weary means very tired. When you meet an unknown word while reading, finish the sentence first — it often explains itself.
Can I hear how each word is pronounced?
Yes. Every card has a speaker button for the word and another for the example sentence, read by the voice built into your browser. On the flashcard you can also press P to hear it. Say the word aloud after the voice — hearing and speaking it fixes it in memory faster than reading alone.
Is my progress saved if I close the page?
Yes. Which words you have marked “I know it” or “Still learning”, your best scores and the class you were on are all saved in your own browser on that device. Nothing is uploaded. If you use a different phone or computer, or clear your browser data, the progress starts again.
