Find a thought by theme

Search the whole year, then tap a thought to show it.

    How it works

Morning assembly, ready in one tap

The same thought appears for everybody on the same date, so the whole school — and every parent at home — reads the same line each morning.

    Add your school name

Type it once; it is remembered on this device for every assembly.

    Choose the language

English, Hindi, Punjabi — or all three stacked for a bilingual school.

    Open the assembly screen

Full screen with giant text, the date and read-aloud for the whole ground.

    Share it after

Print an A4 notice-board slip or download a PNG for the parents' group.

Why everyone sees the same thought

The thought is not random. It is chosen from the day of the year, so 14 March is the same thought in every school, every browser and every phone.

Thought number = (day of the year − 1) mod total thoughts

    Reading it well in assembly

    • Read the line twice — slowly the second time
    • Ask one child what it means in their own words
    • Give one example from school life
    • Ask the class to use the word of the day once today

    Three scripts, one idea

Every thought is written separately in Roman, Devanagari and Gurmukhi script — not machine-translated word for word, so each version sounds natural when it is read out.

    About the Punjabi voice

Windows and Chrome do not ship a Punjabi voice. For Punjabi this tool converts Gurmukhi to Devanagari letter by letter and reads it with a Hindi voice — the closest sound available. On a phone with a Punjabi voice installed, that voice is used instead.

Tip: turn on auto-advance and the assembly screen becomes a slide show for the corridor display — a new thought every few seconds. Use Random for a quiz: read the Hindi line and ask the class to guess the theme.
    Questions & answers

Thought of the Day — your questions

What is a good thought of the day for school assembly?

A good one is short enough to repeat from memory and clear enough for the youngest child present. "Small drops of water fill the whole pot" works because it can be explained in one line: a little study every day adds up to a lot by the exam. Every thought here comes with that explanation already written.

Why does everyone see the same thought on the same day?

The thought is not random. It is picked from the day of the year, using thought number = (day of the year − 1) mod 365. That means 14 March shows the same thought in every school, on every phone and in every browser, so the whole school and the parents at home read the same line each morning.

Are the Hindi and Punjabi versions machine translations?

No. Each thought is written separately in Roman, Devanagari and Gurmukhi script rather than translated word for word, so every version reads naturally when it is spoken aloud in assembly. You can show one language at a time or all three stacked for a bilingual school.

How do I explain the thought to young children?

Read the line twice, slowly the second time. Ask one child what it means in their own words, then give a single example from school life. Finish by asking the class to use the word of the day at least once during the day. Four steps, under two minutes, and it stays with them.

Can I find a thought on a particular theme?

Yes. The search box looks through the whole year in English, Hindi and Punjabi, so you can type kindness, समय or ਮਿਹਨਤ. Tag buttons cover themes such as learning, discipline, kindness, honesty, respect, effort and cleanliness, which is useful when you need a thought to match an assembly topic.

Can I display it on the school notice board or send it to parents?

Yes. Print an A4 notice-board slip for the board outside the office, or download the display as a PNG image to send in the school or parents' WhatsApp group. There is also an auto-advance setting of 10, 15, 30 or 60 seconds, which turns the full-screen display into a rolling slide show for a corridor screen.

Does it read the thought aloud in Hindi and Punjabi?

It reads aloud using your device's own voices. Hindi voices are available on most devices. Windows and Chrome do not ship a Punjabi voice, so for Punjabi the tool converts Gurmukhi to Devanagari letter by letter and reads it with a Hindi voice. On a phone that has a Punjabi voice installed, that voice is used instead.
