assets/js/gk-bank.js is missing or empty, so there are no questions to ask yet. The map, your badges and your passport still work — refresh the page once the question bank is in place.
Start your journey
Pick the state you live in — that is where your adventure begins.
Tap your home state
Every square is one state or union territory, placed roughly where it sits on the real map of India.
Your map of India
Tap a glowing state next to your flag to travel there.
Where can I go next?
These states share a border with land you have already conquered.
Your progress
Last state you learned
Free roam practice
Practise any state's questions without the unlock rules. Nothing here is conquered — it is pure practice, and your answers still count towards your accuracy and streak.
Your stamp book
One stamp for every state and union territory you have conquered.
Learn the map of India by travelling across it
You can only move to a state that touches land you have already won. That one rule teaches which state borders which — the hardest part of Indian geography — without a single list to memorise.
Pick your home state
Search for it or tap it on the tile map, then choose your class so the questions match it.
Travel to a glowing state
Only neighbours of the land you hold glow. Everything else stays locked and tells you what to win first.
Answer 5 questions
Three about that state, two general knowledge. You have 3 lives; get 4 right to conquer it.
Collect the fact card
Every state you win gives you a badge and a card with its capital, language, dance, food and a fun fact.
28 states and 8 union territories
India has 28 states and 8 union territories. Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh became separate UTs on 31 October 2019, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu merged into one UT in January 2020.
On the map, states are solid tiles and union territories carry a white outline. The tile colour shows the region: North, Central, East, West, South, North-East or the island groups.
Which states border which?
Borders are the heart of this game. Uttar Pradesh touches the most states and UTs — nine of them — so a journey through UP opens up half the country. Sikkim and Meghalaya touch only one each, so they are easy to miss.
Travel is always two-way: if Punjab borders Haryana, you can go either way between them.
How you reach the islands
Lakshadweep and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands share no land border with anyone, so in this game they open by sea route instead — shown with a ship symbol.
Lakshadweep opens once you hold Kerala (ships and flights leave from Kochi). The Andaman & Nicobar Islands open once you hold Tamil Nadu or West Bengal (ships sail from Chennai and Kolkata). That is how people really travel there — and it keeps all 36 reachable from wherever you start.
Lives, levels and fairness
Each round is 5 questions with 3 lives. A wrong answer costs one life and always explains the right answer, so a mistake still teaches you something. Win 4 out of 5 to conquer the state.
Difficulty follows your class: Class 3–5, Class 6–8 or Class 9–10. If a state does not have enough questions at your level, the game quietly borrows from the next level and from the general knowledge bank — you will never be left with nothing to answer.
Quiz Adventure — Journey Across India — your questions
How does the India map quiz game work?
You begin in one home state and answer a round of five questions about it. Score four or more and that state is conquered, which unlocks every state sharing a border with it. You keep moving outwards across the map until all 28 states and 8 union territories are done.
How many states and union territories does India have?
India has 28 states and 8 union territories, making 36 in total. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh became union territories in 2019, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu were merged into one union territory in 2020. The game covers all 36.
Which classes is this game suitable for?
It suits Class 3 to Class 10. You pick a level at the start — Class 3 to 5, Class 6 to 8, or Class 9 to 10 — and the questions match that level. Younger children get simpler capital and language questions; older ones get rivers, history and general knowledge.
How do I reach Lakshadweep and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands?
They share no land border, so the game opens them by sea route instead. Lakshadweep unlocks from Kerala, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands unlock from Tamil Nadu or West Bengal, matching the real ship and flight routes from Kochi, Chennai and Kolkata.
Is my progress saved if I close the page?
Yes. Your conquered states, badges, streak and accuracy are stored in your own browser on that device, so you can come back and carry on later. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. Use the New journey button if you want to start again from scratch.
How many questions does the game have?
There are 702 questions in all — 324 about the individual states and union territories, and 378 general knowledge questions covering India, science, geography, space, sport, history and the environment. Every answer comes with a one-line explanation so you learn something even when you get it wrong.
Can teachers use this on a classroom smart board?
Yes. Classroom mode makes the map and questions full-screen with large text for a projector or smart board, and the whole class can answer together. The number keys 1 to 4 pick an option and Enter moves on, so a teacher can run a round without touching the screen.
