Attendance Percentage Calculator

Check your attendance in seconds and find exactly how many classes you must attend — or can safely miss — to stay above the 75% rule.

Class 6–12 & College Study Tools 75% rule Subject-wise

To work out your attendance percentage, divide the classes you attended by the total classes held and multiply by 100. For example, 84 classes out of 120 is (84 ÷ 120) × 100 = 70%. CBSE requires at least 75% attendance to appear in the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams.

Step-by-step working

    How it works

    Never fall short of 75% again

    Three numbers are all you need. The calculator does the maths and tells you exactly what to do next.

    Enter classes held

    The total number of periods or working days counted so far.

    Enter classes attended

    How many of those you were present for.

    Pick the requirement

    75% is the CBSE board-exam rule; many colleges use 75% or 80%.

    Follow the plan

    See classes needed to recover, or how many you can safely miss.

    Attendance formula

    Attendance % = (Attended ÷ Held) × 100

    Example: 84 classes attended out of 120 → 84 ÷ 120 × 100 = 70%.

    Classes needed to reach the target

    x = (p × H − A) ÷ (1 − p)

    Here p is the target as a decimal (0.75), H is classes held and A is classes attended. Round x up to the next whole class.

    Classes you can miss

    y = A ÷ p − H

    Round y down. If y is 0 or less, you cannot miss any class without dropping below the target.

    Attendance Percentage Calculator — your questions

    How do I calculate attendance percentage?

    Divide the number of classes you attended by the total number of classes held, then multiply by 100. If you attended 84 of 120 classes, your attendance is (84 ÷ 120) × 100 = 70%. This calculator does it instantly and also shows what you need to do next.

    How many classes do I need to attend to reach 75%?

    Use the formula x = (0.75 × classes held − classes attended) ÷ 0.25, then round up. With 84 attended out of 120, you need 24 more classes in a row to reach exactly 75%. The calculator works this out for any target you choose.

    How many classes can I miss and still keep 75% attendance?

    If you are already above the limit, you can miss y classes where y = (attended ÷ 0.75) − classes held, rounded down. The calculator shows this number directly, so you know exactly how many days you can afford to take off.

    Is 75% attendance compulsory for CBSE board exams?

    CBSE requires a minimum of 75% attendance to appear in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. Schools may condone a shortfall in genuine cases such as serious illness, but this is at the board's discretion, so it is safer to stay above the limit.

    Can I calculate attendance for each subject separately?

    Yes. Switch to the Subject-wise tab, add each subject with its classes held and attended, and the tool shows the percentage, status and classes needed for every subject plus an overall total. Your subject list is saved on your own device.

    What happens if my attendance falls below the required percentage?

    Most schools issue a shortage notice and may stop you from sitting internal or board examinations. The usual remedy is to attend every remaining class and apply for condonation with a medical certificate or other proof. Catching the shortfall early is far easier than fixing it later.
